Rachel
Hello!
Hello there! I'm Rachel, and I'm from Australia. I love to chat about pretty much everything, from pop culture -- especially science fiction, anime, music and cinema -- to current events, history, literature and so much more. I believe the best way to learn is to do! And it is so much more fun that way, as well.
My friends would say that I am the biggest nerd they know, and I really can't deny it. I have an intense interest in so many things, including but not limited to books, comics, television series (especially dramas from Korea, Thailand, Japan and China), film, music (especially K-pop), travel, trivia, boardgames and politics. I am a very gregarious and outgoing person who loves to find out what other people love, too! I am always fascinated by my fellow humans' hobbies and lives, and where we intersect. I have been lucky enough to have spent much of the past two decades travelling around the world, and have lived in London, New York, Galway, Dubai and Singapore, in addition to the many, many places I have been privileged to visit. While I am not fluent in any other languages, I am currently attempting to learn both French and Korean, which means I can absolutely relate to the language learning journey on which you have embarked. And I applaud you for your efforts!

Teaching Style
For beginner English learners, my style is all about positive reinforcement and helpful repetition, until the new words and concepts are firmly cemented in your brain. Working from first principles, we journey together to discover new words and phrases, and to find commonality so that we can converse, rather than simply concentrate on questions and answers. For intermediate to more advanced learners, my style is about finding common interests and then letting the conversation flow freely, while incidental learning takes place. I like to have students discuss their favourite topics, and then use that as a medium to improve syntax, sentence structure and word choice, with a special emphasis on the idioms that can make an English learner appear like an expert.
