Shona
Hello!
Hello, I'm called Shona, I'm originally from the Orkney Islands in Scotland, I currently live in Warwickshire, England, otherwise known as Shakespeare's County. I have experience facilitating workshops and delivering training events to a diverse range of cohorts. I am a full time educator, choosing to home educate my own offspring. I enjoy working with people and learning about new points-of-view.
I have spent many years working with people with addictions and offending behaviours, facilitating groups and workshops in prisons, with prolific offenders in the community and with young offenders. I have worked with many charitable organisations helping people whom have been victims of domestic abuse, parental substance misuse and I even volunteered in Kenya, Africa, where I delivered Drug & Alcohol awareness sessions to young people, taught in primary schools and helped to renovate dilapidated buildings. I am a volunteer Educational Rights Advocate with an interest in Law and the different jurisdictions thereof; I am a qualified and insured advanced holistic therapist and administer various treatments for people's well being, including but not limited to Acupuncture, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Massage, Sound Therapy and Electric Stimulation Therapy. I enjoy playing musical instruments, including the violin, clarinet and many other obscure sounding instruments you probably haven't heard of. I enjoy craftwork, art, model making, crochet and knitting. I have 3 dogs and 3 daughters and 1 grandson, all of whom help to keep me on my toes. Family life is very important to me.

Teaching Style
My style of teaching is very much person-centred, bringing the focus onto the learner, finding out what is important to and for the learner is at the heart of my teaching style, which helps later in developing outcomes and actions in person-centred reviews. I have a solution focused, collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to language. I seek to encourage learners to strengthen their own personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal or learning outcome.
